The Dakar Biennale of Contemporary African Art 2024 will remain a foundational event. For this edition, which marked the return of design after sixteen years of absence, three unique pieces were conceived and unveiled: Tanyè, Nègèbennan, and Yelen. Each translates a concept into form, material, and presence. Seeing them exhibited in Dakar, in a context where design finally reclaimed its place within the Biennale, gave these objects a particular resonance. Beyond the exhibition, the Biennale was an encounter with other designers, other perspectives, and other ways of approaching creation on the continent.
