Tamaro Ja

Tamaro Ja is a vertical luminous sculpture topped with handmade palm-paper tiles. Crafted from palm fronds using a process adapted from traditional Japanese washi, this material filters light like a plant canopy, evoking the coolness and shelter an oasis offers in arid lands. The diffused light simultaneously reaches the floor and ceiling, casting shifting shadows that soften the space.

Conceived during a residency in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, the piece utilizes the palm tree as both a metaphor and an often-overlooked local resource, giving it a new presence in interior spaces.
